"Funzino apocrifo" - SEO Contest

14th March 2007: the "Pesce Funzino Apocrifo Mediterraneo" SEO contest was officially open. This positioning competition in the most important search engines has a particular educational purpose: it will be the way to grade 22 students of a Master in Web Technology (third edition) organized by the University of L'Aquila for Web Mining, the subject teached by the lecturer Michele Flammini. The class took place during February-March 2007 and will end with the final ranking of web sites about the funzino apocrifo in the search engines Google, Yahoo and Live. The "pesce funzino apocrifo del Mediterraneo" was chosen cause the web was completely unaware about this strange fish. Another important reason for the choise was the affectionate and ironic allusion to a lecturer c/o the IT department of the University of L'Aquila. This challenge between the 22 students of the Master in Web Technology is of course a growing opportunity for everybody: the students are all keen about web and all stimulated from this particular test; the lecturers are curious of how this contest will be performed and in particular the lecturer Flammini is surely excited and ready to promptly remedy to polemic, critique, suspect immediatly unchained by the presence through the web of a strange news: "Recentemente scoperto nelle acque del Mediterraneo un nuovo pesce: FUNZINO APOCRIFO MEDITERRANEO". The students are on the job and all really motivated by this challenge. They are honest and right, so that the few rules imposed will be surely narrowly followed: they cannot use approaches with fee and each kind of spam is banned. Everything else is permitted: the students will use acquired knowledge during the class and they will surely find tricks going through the network. The result will be really interesting and it will be intriguing listen to student's comments and also to lecturer's comments.

During last two editions the Master was positively estimated by the students. The Master offers intense and practical courses that aim to model valuable Web Designers. It lasts an accademic year and at the end of the same the students have to do written and oral exams and above all works in groups to achieve the significant qualification. New graduates in scientific subjects c/o the University of L'Aquila and other Universities can enter the Master. Each class is hold by qualified lecturer and is original based on newest web technologies. At the end (April 2007) the students will be entered into good companies because they have to carry out a three months stage. The Master in Web Technology allows students to acquire many additional knowledges and, a very important thing, allows them to look out the work world in a professional way.
